Cultivation of autoflowering cannabis strain
Growing autoflowers
I would like to share a guide on growing autoflowering varieties of our favorite plant. I will tell you why you need to plant the auto version in the first grow, how to achieve high yields and go through the entire grow on cruise control.
WHY AUTO?
Genetically , C. ruderalis starts flowering automatically about 3-4 weeks after the start of the vegetative stage. This process does not depend on natural factors or lighting.
Thus, the newly bred autoflowering cannabis varieties were endowed with all the most important qualities for growers:
- Short life cycle (from germination to harvest only 7-9 weeks);
- Automatic transition between growth stages;
- The size of the bush is within 50-150 cm;
- Ability to harvest several crops per season due to rapid maturation;
- Unpretentiousness and strong immunity;
- High THC content.
Let's remember why everyone tells us that autos are more difficult and it is better to take a photoperiod variety for the first grow .
The autos decide when to go into the flowering phase, and if there are problems growing them, the grower has very little time to correct the situation.
The most important stage in the development of autoflowering cannabis is the first 3 weeks - from sprout to sexing by the plant:
If by this time the plant is healthy and strong, then you will only have to pilot the grow in the normal mode and come to a bountiful harvest :
She's in her 5th week of color
For such a start, we need a good primer, a great option would be Biobizz lightmix :
This is a charged substrate that will give us a powerful start, a strong plant, a fruitful finish. And most importantly, we do not have to feed the plant for the first 3-4 weeks, thereby reducing the possibility of messing up from the very beginning.
The substrate forgives even the pH curve of water, but still I do not recommend pouring water with a pH curve. I’ll say right away that it’s not worth measuring the pH of the drainage, and the ppm will be inaccurate, yet this is the earth, and some part of the organic matter is there, so measure only the entrance and look at the bush, the eye is your control device on the ground.
To do this, in the first three weeks you will only have to:
- Do not overdry or overwater the plants - the substrate should be slightly damp, but not flooded. Take care of the drainage system at the bottom of the pot. The usual frequency of watering is every other day.
- Observe the temperature during cultivation. Too high a temperature can dry out the substrate too quickly, and too cold stops all the life processes of plants, they seem to fall into hibernation and stop growing.
Also, at high temperatures, the substrate can dry out much faster, so adjust your watering frequency.
There are alternative substrates of other equally well-known companies that are no worse than Biobiz.
DEVELOPMENT CYCLE OF AUTOFLOWERS
Can be roughly divided into the following stages, which may be slightly longer or slightly shorter depending on the variety :
- From helmet to seedling - 1-12 days; (Watching)
- Demonstration of sex by a plant - 12-18 days; (Stimulants according to the sheet)
- Vega, pre-flowering and stretching of the plant (all this at the same time) - 18-30 days; (Applying techniques and starting feeding)
- Flowering - 30-80 days. (We keep a moderate diet, incentives under the root)
Autos are very fast growing and watching them change from day to day is like magic compared to the steady growing of photoperiod cannabis .
After 50 days:
Another advantage of autos is their tolerance for light leaks into the grow box from outside. If photoperiod cannabis just won't flower under these conditions, then autos, in the experience of many companies and growers, go through a productive cycle even despite abnormal situations like long periods of light, darkness and variable light due to timer failures.
Indoor growers , of course, want to have complete control over the cultivation, but autoflowering cannabis is resistant to many types of accidents that life throws at us from time to time.
PRO LIGHT MODE
Usually choose 18/6, 20/4 or 24/0. In the latter version (24/0) they note excellent development and the absence of any stress due to the lack of night, as many argue that the ripening cycle is slightly reduced.
Optialno - 20/4 .... Everyone should sleep) Yes, and basically the growth of cannabis occurs at night.
