Techniques for properly treating cannabis leaves with a solution of fertiliser or water

Do's and Don'ts spraying of cannabis:

• ✅ Spray in low light or in the dark

If you are growing indoors, the best time to spray will be at the beginning or end of the night period (before the lamp is turned on and warmed up). When growing outdoors, it is best to spray early in the morning or late in the evening rather than in full sunlight or during the hottest part of the day. This avoids burns on the leaves due to the lens effect that occurs when strong sunlight hits water droplets.

• ⛔Don't spray when it's too cold or too hot

The ideal temperature for foliar spraying is approximately 20-24ºC . At higher temperatures, the mouths are more likely to close, i.e. they will not be able to absorb nutrients as efficiently. And spraying in cool weather can create conditions conducive to the growth and development of the fungus.

Top dressing in the evening is not as effective, since the stomata close at night, moisture does not have time to be absorbed and can lead to various problems: fungus, mold, rotting of branches and stems. 

• ⛔Do not spray while ventilation is on.

Powerful indoor fans will blow away most of the spray, which means not only a waste of fertilizer, but inefficient application.

• ✅ Pay special attention to the underside of the leaves, where the stomata are located

In addition to the ability of leaves to feed through stomata, plants are also able to absorb moisture to a lesser extent through the epidermis on the upper side of the leaf, twigs and stems.

• ⛔Don't use your nutrients to their full potential

The main thing to remember is that to begin with, the concentration should be 25% of the recommended one. Only then can you gradually increase the strength of the solution, making sure that no signs of a chemical burn appear on the leaves. In any case, the concentration should not be more than 50% of the recommended one. 

• ✅ Test the spray solution on one leaf before spraying the whole plant

It's a good idea to test new and unfamiliar products for malware. If time is not running out (the plant is not eaten), apply the prepared solution on one leaf or on a small area of ​​\u200b\u200bthe plant and wait. If after 24 hours you do not find any deterioration, then you can confidently spray the solution on all plants . 

• ⛔Do not spray during flowering

Avoid any moisture on the buds during the entire flowering cycle. Mold very often infects and destroys the entire crop, not to mention the likelihood that substances harmful to humans may remain in the cones. 

• ✅ When spraying, use a surfactant (wetting agent) for better coverage

 Adding a few drops of potash green soap or dish detergent (no fragrance or dyes and no antibacterial effect) or yucca leaf juice to the spray solution will reduce the surface tension of the liquid, thus. providing a more even coverage of the surface and preventing the formation of large water droplets that remain on the sheet and make it difficult to absorb moisture.

• ✅Use a sprayer rather than a jet for more even coverage.

Powerful atomizer jets should be used for compost and beneficial microbe applications that require larger droplets for greater effectiveness. On a small scale, use a spray bottle.

• raise the concentration in the third week to 30-50% and spray every 2-3 days and also a little bit,
• wash the plants once a week with warm water to clean the stomata,
• as already mentioned, stop spraying at the 2nd week of color or at most 2-3 weeks before harvest.

Although spraying is no substitute for good nutrition through the root system, foliar application has become a widespread method among growers as a fast-acting and highly effective form of fertilizer.

Spraying helps to effectively manage the supply of secondary nutrients and trace elements such as calcium, magnesium, sulfur, zinc, manganese, iron, copper, boron and molybdenum.
